To augment the market share of the conglomerate’s products and services, Bharat Group created a new subsidiary BR Agrotech Limited (BRAL) in 2000.
This company commenced operations with the commissioning of its pesticides unit at Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir to tap the extensive capacity in toll manufacture and also cater to the institutional customers. Currently, this unit with state-of-art plant and machinery to produce powder, liquid and granules
Ever since its inception, BRAL has carved out a name as formulator and manufacturer of public health and hygiene products. These products have been evaluated and endorsed by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under National Malaria Eradication Programme, the Railways and the Ministry of Defense.
On identifying tremendous scope of growth in PET based products which have practically replaced materials like glass, HDPE etc. in the packaging industry, BRAL proposed to diversify into this segment. As part of this expansion, BRAL established a unit at Kala Amb in Himachal Pradesh to manufacture PET bottles for pesticides, beverages and pharmaceuticals.
Remarkably, in the very first year of its commercial production, the company achieved the break-even point in sales. It has a production capacity of 36 crore bottles per year. Some of the salient features of BRAL are:
International accreditation and certification ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 14001:2004 for both the units at Kathua in J&K and Kala Amb in H.P.
Separate dedicated units for wettable powders, granules, liquid formulations and new age formulations such as water dispersible granule (WDG), Aqueous Suspension Concentrates (SC), Emulsions and Oil in Water (EW). Similar separate plant and allied facilities for herbicides.
Well-equipped laboratory with modern testing facilities.
An exclusive unit to provide customized services for toll.
Plans are afoot to rope in some of the MNCs and other domestic companies of repute to avail the company’s products and services.
In tune with the Bharat Group’s philosophy of integrity, BRAL has assigned prime slot to human resources. Safety, security and welfare aspects of the staff manning both the Kathua plant and Kala Amb factory head the agenda of the company’s corporate objectives.
Currently 250 trained personnel are employed at the pesticides unit in Kathua while the PET factory in Kala Amb has engaged 50 persons.
